Why is is called My Favorite Day?
The name is inspired by an art therapy projective assessment called "My Favorite Kind of Day" by Trudy Manning. For our intent and purpose, it is used as a self-inquiry process that helps us identify what a good day looks like for us. This is helpful information to be aware of when we are taking an active role in creating a life that makes us feel happy and fulfilled. Everyone is different and what works for some may not be preferable to others. What makes us feel connected and complete? What brings us joy? Is there something that we used to enjoy that we don't do anymore because life got so busy? Are there new skills we can learn that would bring us closer to living a happy life? Are there relationships in our lives that could be improved? What do we need for ourselves to feel good? What can we do to feel part of a group instead of being isolated and and alone? Is there something we could be doing to give back to society by way of volunteering? These are all questions worth asking when we begin sculpting our life into one that we want to live and share with others. Every day cannot reasonably be our favorite, however knowing what to include in our favorite kind of day helps us identify what we need in order to be happy and it helps us take an active stance in our happiness through increased self-awareness.
