About Me
I’ve built a life that integrates being a clinical mental health counselor, musician, artist, organizer, nature lover, and animal advocate. Creativity fuels me, whether through music, songwriting, art, or decorating intentional spaces that feel like sanctuaries. I also find joy in camping, hiking, and being in nature, which always brings me back to homeostasis.
Family and connection are at the heart of my life. I’m married with two adult children who live nearby, and I cherish every moment we spend together. My friendships are another source of strength and inspiration, a circle I’ve intentionally built around shared values of connection, laughter, and support.
In 2023, I walked 200 miles along the Camino de Santiago from Porto, Portugal, to Santiago de Compostela, Spain with 8 friends. That pilgrimage—my personal Mt. Everest—changed me. It was a great physical and emotional challenge. My Camino reminded me how to stay present and mindful in the moment, keep moving when things get hard, and to never give up on myself.
My favorite kind of day is simple and deeply fulfilling. After my morning ritual of feeding all the animals, my favorite days include working on something creative in the mornings before the world gets going. Then I move onto working with clients or different work projects I always have going. On my favorite days I have a good lunch and break to reconnect back with myself. After finishing up whatever I'm working on, I like to spend time with my partner cooking and sharing a meal. During the late evenings I love climbing into bed with my dogs and watching TV. Whether it’s true crime, psychology-based shows, or something light and mindless, it helps me shift into relaxation and lets the day settle with my animals curled up right beside me. Those kind of days are my favorite.
Another big part of my life is taking care of my community cats. It's a daily process that includes feeding, cleaning, tending to any medical needs, making sure they have effective shelters and continuing the long process of TNR (trap-neuter-return).

Philanthropic Work
In 2009, I founded a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, The Austin Harmony Project, Inc., whose mission is to enrich the lives of adults with developmental disabilities through art, music and community. Harmony is still in operation today and provides social dance events and celebrations throughout the year that are open to the disability community who face a serious shortage of life-enriching programs.
